Oromo Women’s Association (OWA UK) performance report up to date:
- July 2016 Launched on 01/02/2014
- Had few management committee meetings face to face: 22/03/14, 18/04/14, and 31/10/15. Discussion and decisions were mostly made over the phone, text and email
- 1st AGM (annual general meeting) on 07/06/14
- Fundraising event: 13/09/14
- Organised workshop on Female genital Mutilation: 21/02/2015
- Opened a bank account October 2015
- Registered OWA UK with Charity commission on 06/10/15: OWA UK Charity No. 1163845
- Organised demonstration on 6th of January 2016 and camped in front of No. 10 Downing Street from 5th of January – 7th of January 2016; submitted an appeal letter to PM David Cameron, Kenyan Embassy and BBC main broadcasting office
- In the process of establishing OWA UK website
- Has given supporting letter to four asylum seeking Oromo women and one Oromo young asylum seeker
- Arranged meetings in different parts of UK and have opened a branch of
- OWA UK in 1. West Midlands/Birmingham 2. Manchester/Bolton 14th of May 2016 OWA UK has joined Union of Oromo Community Organisations in the UK (UOCO – UK)
- 06/08/2016 meeting to form OWA UK branch in London for Oromo women who live and work in London and London area
